Who teaches Teeny Weaning Workshops?
I, Sarah Lindsay Brown, will teach all of Teeny Weaning’s workshops. I am a registered dietitian with fourteen years experience, who has a degree (BSc Hons, 2:1) and postgraduate dipolma and has trained in the NHS, worked in the baby food industry and worked as a nutrition scientist for a non-profit organisation. The latter had a focus on managing and updating educational resources and a website both which covered pregnancy nutrition, weaning and toddler diets. Along with my experience I will offer trustworthy, up-to-date and balanced advice based on the latest research and government guidelines. I am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council and am a member of the British Dietetic Association (BDA) and BDA Freelance and Paediatric Specialist Groups.
When should I book my classes?
Pregnancy Food and Nutrition workshops can be booked at any stage of pregnancy, however you may benefit from attending early on in your pregnancy.
New Mums Food and Nutrition workshops can be booked anytime after you have had your baby or even before if you want to feel super-prepared!
Weaning workshops can be booked anytime after you have had your baby, though they are designed for babies 3 months to 1 year of age.
The Toddler Food and Nutrition and the Fussy Eating workshops can be booked anytime after your child has turned 1 and before their 5th birthday for Toddler Nutrition and anytime during childhood for Fussy Eating.
What is the difference between ‘Teeny Weaning’s’ Weaning workshop and NCT’s ‘Introducing Solid Foods’ workshop?
Teeny weaning is dietitian-run, it offers fun, relaxed and interactive classes, tailor-made classes and access to email support until your baby is 1 year old, as well as information to take away or a digital pack. You can benefit from having your own private dietitian in the comfort of your own home or over video conference. Dietitians are the only nutrition professionals to be regulated by law and they are trained to use the most up-to-date public health and scientific research on food, health and disease which they translate into practical guidance to enable people to make appropriate lifestyle and food choices. The NCT is the largest charity in the UK for parents. NCT teachers undertake professional training that involves adult education that specialises in preparation for birth and parenthood as well as baby feeding, but generally they are not dietitians or nutritionists.
