Meet Me!

Hi, I'm so glad you've here....

You are about to start weaning but are confused by all the conflicting information and noise out there on the internet... like you I was too even before I had my own babies - when I was writing and advising in previous jobs on weaning and child nutrition - but I went to the evidence!

I became fed up with all the noise and confusion around weaning and decided I wanted to reach a wider audience of parents. So after having my first baby I took all my knowledge and expertise and did a weaning workshop to my mummy NCT friends and set up Teeny Weaning. In the same year I wrote my first article for NCT magazine. I set about changing all this confusion and helping overwhelmed parents when they shouldn't be.

I understand....

I'm mummy to 2 gorgeous little girls and I understand the many feeding issues that can arise. One of my babies refused finger foods until she was 11 months, no matter how often I offered them.  She also suffered badly with constipation (we had to see a consultant and have blood tests for suspected allergies).  My other baby could be a fussy little thing often refusing meals I had prepared - grhhhh!

I'm qualified....

I'm a registered dietitian and nutritionist. My passion for food, nutrition and health led me to study the subject at degree (Bsc, Hons) and postgraduate level.  I believe that good nutrition and healthy eating and a positive relationship with food are important right from the start of life, during weaning and beyond. My belief is supported by a wealth of research to suggest that good nutrition and a positive relationship with food in early life is critical to shaping eating habits and health in later life.

I'm experienced....

I've fifteen years of experience as a dietitian since training in the NHS. I've been a specialist infant dietitian in the baby food industry, during which time I gained a certificate in the dietetic management of allergic disease. I've also been a nutrition scientist for a non-profit organisation.  I'm now a freelance dietitian specialising in early years nutrition and am an expert on weaning and fussy eating.  I totally love talking to parents and can talk all day about all things weaning and fussy eating.

I've also worked with  Loughborough University on their 'Child Feeding Guide' online training for professionals working with fussy eaters. I attend many courses and study days, mostly recently one on ARFID (Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder) - extreme fussy eating.
